Part-Time Communications Officer
The Communications Officer will perform essential communication tasks utilizing a wide variety of media formats while developing and coordinating information to be disseminated to the public on behalf of the Township of Delran.
Essential functions: Conceptualize, develop and implement media releases to the public while positively representing the Township’s overall operations. These media formats include, but not limited to, press releases, website, social media content, email notifications, PowerPoint presentations, brochures, pamphlets, flyers and resident surveys.
Plan, develop, implement and administer the Township’s communication strategy in coordination with the Mayor, Township Council, and Business Administrator.
Assist in public relations actions and activities, such as special events, ribbon cuttings, award ceremonies, oaths of office and press conferences with all forms of media. This will include attendance at council meetings.
Upon request and direction by the Mayor, Township Council, and Business Administrator, may be tasked to assist with communication support to prepare and disseminate emergency management news releases associated with all forms of disaster situations to include weather, natural and man-made events.
Routinely attend Township Council meetings to provide press releases regarding key actions discussed or taken during the meeting(s).
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications: Proof of experience in communications, journalism, public relations, English or related field.
Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills with a command for public engagement.
Proficient skills with personal computers, including Microsoft Office, email, social media and website content management.
Possess photography, video, website and social media content editing skills.
Valid New Jersey Driver’s License.
Able to pass a thorough background check process upon a conditional offer of employment.
