Dear Fellow Delran Residents,
May has been a very busy month as we prepare for Summer. Please see below for some important updates.
Delran’s Recreation Advisory Committee (RAC): We have big news regarding Delran Night Out and the RAC. Please come to the next Township Council meeting on June 10th at the Municipal Building, 900 Chester Avenue.
Delran Chickens:
With the current price of eggs and the increase in popularity of raising chickens at home, here is some important information regarding this topic. Delran Township ordinance 2019-12 permits the keeping of backyard chickens. There is a limit of 8 chickens per license. Roosters are not permitted. Be aware that your HOA may not permit chickens. Regulations are in place in Delran to ensure the health of our residents and the chickens and to maintain peace with our neighbors. All residents keeping backyard chickens must obtain a license from the Municipal Clerk’s office and pay the required nominal fee. All chicken owners must have an enclosed coop with a latching door and a ground barrier to protect the chickens from tunneling predators. Fun fact…raccoons have thumbs and can be a threat to chickens. The coop must be a minimum of twenty-feet (20’) from the habitable portion of the neighboring residential dwelling and five-feet (5’) from the property line. For further assistance in obtaining your license, keeping chickens, or rehoming your rooster at no cost or penalty, please send an email to [email protected]. A Delran specific class on how to care and maintain your flock will be coming to our township in September 2025.
Paper Shredding Event:
Mark your calendar! On June 21st from 8 am – 10 am Delran will be hosting a paper shredding event for Delran residents only at the Municipal Building. There is a maximum of four boxes of shreddable paper – no paper clips or plastic. Each box may not exceed 40 lbs.
Project Updates:
The Creek Road sewer extension project has been awarded. Work is scheduled to begin in July.
The Leon Avenue sewer replacement project has also been awarded. Closed Circuit TV (CCTV) will be done at night to assess this segment under lower flow. There is no anticipated disruption to the residents during this assessment. Upline assessment via CCTV has been completed with no indication of repairs needed.
We will be submitting an application for the Burlington County Park Redevelopment Grant. The application will be submitted for improvements to the Summerhill (Ken Johnston Park) Baseball Fields.
